Hi all,

There are several 55/1.2 lenses under Yashica / Yashinon brand and some other (see http://www.tomioka.de/ for full details).

Here is the first one made for Yashica :

Can't believe I missed this thread! I've been interested in this lens for a while, sounds great!
Thanks for posting this - I'm enjoying it just looking at the lens

hi folx
hi folx

...sure its a nice lense, but do not overrate it... ;-) and do NOT PAY TOO MUCH MONEY for it on EBAY... think about, you could get a zeiss C/Y T* planar 1,4 50mm for the same money , or perhaps 2 times a Zeiss ...... ;-) some people.... especially the people from www.tomoika.de..... *g*
like to have a bit toooooo much for it in the bay I think *lol*

for better understanding *sorry* only in german, read this:

I don't care about PK mount 55/1,2 lenses mainly because I can't mount them on my EOS 5D, and also for the following facts :

That Yashinon Tomioka in M42 mount is somewhat unique (fatest M42 standard prime, rear lens cut, optical design). Beside that, I agree not ay too much for one. I am a lens collector in some way, and this one was on my wish list only because of the uniqueness, not for the optical qualities. That is because it took me a lot of time to got one at a price I've judged decent : 130 € including the Yashica AX displayed up there, including shipping cost accross Europa - I was not whiling to pay more than 150 € for one. But even if I actualy resell part of my collection because I'm on the practicing way more that testing and collecting as I used to be, I will keep this one because I love it as a geat industrial object (yes, that's about geekery).

I need to figure it out but I guess that old glasses & coating are not very light transmisive, and that way ayou should not gain any speed nor ISO improvement against a modern 50/1,4 lens like CZ Contax, Nikkor or SMC Pentax. :D
