Help with my electro GSN

Postby xypex982 on Mon Nov 09, 2009 4:22 am

Got it a week or so ago from ebay, just have a few questions. I had to jimmy rig a 4lr44 battery in there by wrapping the battery with cardboard from an empty cigarette pack, and putting a bolt from my old parts VW bus on top of the battery so it will reach the cap. I now am just baffled that I don't think I can set it to 1.7. I can get the red line to just past 1.7 but cant get it to reach 1.7. Also the "clicks" you feel as you turn the aperture ring they seem to "click" in between the numbers. Is that supposed to happen, and what if I want6 say f 8, do I set the line to f8, or the "click" feeling after it?

Closest I can get it set to 1.7

I guess something is wrong with the scale ring, or not...what I know is that GSN has 3 picture preset above the aperture, 3 icons which illustrate the lightning condition, night, cloudy and sunny...and in my MG-1 it 'click' on each picture not on the aperture number, so there should be 3 click there...

or this is what you can do to ensure there's nothing wrong with your aperture, just the number indicator...place yourself in dark area, open the film chamber and see through the lens, set your f number start from 1.7, cock the shutter and press the shutter while you're looking through the lens from the film chamber, gradually move one stop and repeat the procedure, if you have the aperture open at a reasonably then I guess it's fine...with your condition I assume that your could only stop at f16 after the number...if that's the case then I could also assume that someone ever disassembly the lens and he/she didn't properly put it back right...I'm not sure with GSN but it happen in my Lynx 5000e

Have you tried the battery adapter from the Yashica Guy?
